Harry’s 1988 2H-T HJ75

Year: 1988

Model: HJ75 Series

Kilometres: 462 000kms

Tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Harry Woods and I’m the owner of the old girl “TR88PY”.

When you got the Troopy?

I’ve owned my Troopy for nearly 2 years and have loved every minute of it.

First, favourite and future mod?

The first thing I did after purchasing the 33 year old ‘yota’ was take it to the mechanic and getting a major service, because only god knows how many backpackers have owned this thing before me.

My favourite mod would have to be the Old Recaro bucket seats. The 1st owner put them in after 500kms of owning the car (must’ve had back problems from the leafy boy).

Eventually I plan on putting a top mount intercooler paired with a 79 bonnet to help with EGT’s on the old turbo.

What is your favourite memory in Troop?

My favourite memory in the Troopy would have to be exploring Fraser Island! Being from WA I’m so grateful that I got the chance to go see what all the hype is about over there!

Sketchiest moment?

Sketchiest moment would have to be breaking down halfway across the Nullarbor and stressing for ages to realise I just ran out of fuel and all I had to do was switch to my secondary fuel tank.

Favourite camp/4wd spot?

My favourite camp spot would have to be the first place I ever went camping and somewhere my friends and I go very frequently, Dwellingup WA. Best of both worlds with rivers, 4x4 tracks and lovely scenery!
